She and partner Matt Nethacott, 25, decided on the name Amelia and bought lots of pink clothes and girly decorations. Other gifts included furniture for a girl, new paint and girl car seats. The expectant mum had been so excited to find out the gender that she had paid for a £60 private scan at 17 weeks. Three weeks later, at their routine 20-week scan, it was confirmed again that they were having a little girl.

They even held a gender reveal party where a cannon exploded pink confetti. So they were stunned when a 34-week scan revealed the baby was a boy. Noah was born in August. Supermarket worker Leanne, of Worcester, said: “I couldn’t believe it and it was difficult to get my head around at first. “I was weeks away from giving birth, and suddenly I was hit with this bombshell.

“We’d thought about the woman she’d grow up to be. “But now I can’t imagine life without our Noah, he’s perfect. “He hasn’t had to wear any pink clothes, but we’ve kept them in case he has a sister one day. “We were given neutral coloured baby clothes from friends before I gave birth, so we didn’t struggle too much – but it was quite nice to have another excuse to go out shopping.”
